It's cool to watch the awards process unfold first-hand this year, as it were. In case you didn't know, Smartphone and Pocket PC Magazine has a "Best Of" awards every year, and this year they asked me to judge, and I stupidly said yes. Anyhoo, they just released a list of the finalists. Winners will be named on or around October 16th--I know, you just can't wait, can you? Click the pix at left to read the list.
Seriously, this is a fast way to scan through a mountain of handheld application titles and pick out the outstanding ones, by the way. About a hundred or so WM experts from around the world perform extensive evaluations on the nominees, and the finalists are selected from the largest number of votes...
The magazine will publish a 2007 Buyer's guide, and much of the content is based on the judge's comments/feedback during this process.
